News, Events, & Opportunities // December 2020

Dear Plant Powered Community,

I think we could all use a little help right now...

Help: I'm not making healthy food choices!
Help: How can I keep juggling my family and work from home?
Help: When can I take a real holiday?
Help: How long will these restrictions last?

As this crazed year comes to a close, Plant Powered Metro New York wants to offer you more of a lifeline, in recognition of the ongoing emotional trauma in our lives. How can we help?

  • Next week, we're launching a monthly Nutrition Support Circle, facilitated by a social worker and psychologist from our volunteer team, to help you reach your goals for healthy eating and living.

  • Our Plant Powered Lifestyle Mentorship program is open to anyone based in the NY metro area to get peer support, one-on-one, for a whole month.

  • Join our community-wide Facebook Group, Plant Powered Metro NY Community, to ask your questions, swap food photos, and share recipes.

  • Health care workers, we see you! As work gets tough -- again -- nourish yourself by joining our two-week jumpstart in January, just for you and your families. More details are below!

In nourishment and health,
Lianna Levine Reisner, Network Director

P.S. Congratulations to our survey prize winners! Virginia L. won the PlantPure meal starters, and Will B. and Priya P. won plant-based books by Dr. Michael Greger. Even though the prizes are gone, the survey is still open through tomorrow, and we'd love to learn from more of you! Complete the survey here.

SUPPORT FOR OUR HEALTH CARE WORKERS

Our 14-Day Plant Powered Jumpstart for Health Care Workers kicks off on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 7:00 PM and runs through Sunday, January 24!
Donation-based fee -- all are welcome: details and registration here - register by Sunday 1/3

Ring in the new year with our virtual jumpstart for metro-area health care workers and their family members! This unique food-as-medicine experience will educate and inspire you with the power of whole food, plant-based nutrition in preventing, treating, and reversing chronic diseases -- including the underlying conditions that make COVID-19 more dangerous: diabetes, heart disease, respiratory diseases, obesity, and hypertension, among others. We'll help you take home the knowledge, skills, and tools to adopt a whole food, plant-based lifestyle for a full two weeks.

Virtual sessions throughout the program will offer nutrition education, culinary skill-building and demonstrations, meal planning resources, peer mentorship, and group support. Don't miss this opportunity to build your own health resilience as you care for others -- whether you're a clinician, an administrator, office staff, or a health care facility worker.

Please share this opportunity with the health care workers in your lives!
